Molecular horticulture

Horticultural plants

Genome Biology

  • Horticultural plants (fruits, vegetables, ornamentals, beverage and medicinal plants) play important roles in our life and ecosystems. Despite more than 100 horticultural plant genomes decoded, genomes of a greater number of species remain unavailable. To promote the effort, I have launched the horticultural plant genome project (HPGP).
  • I have participated in decoding the genomes of the orchid Dendrobium catenatum, the sweet olive Osmanthus fragrans, the Chinese cabbage Brassica rapa, and the wintersweet (Chimonanthus Praecox).

    Water lily studies

  • Water lily germplasm. I have generated a medium-sized germplasm of water lilies, which are very useful for genomic studies and breeding purposes.

    Plant genomic tools

    Database and pipelines

    With the rapid development of genome sequencing technology, more and more flowering plant genomes have been decoded. However, to store and visualize so many genomic data and other related information remain a big challenge. I have set up the eplant database (http://eplant.njau.edu.cn) in 2017, hoping to be a one-stop platform for plant biologists.
