A Brief IntroductionTea Plant Genome Database Version 1.0

Tea plant is a species of evergreen shrub or small tree whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce tea. It is of the genus Camellia (Chinese: 茶花; pinyin: Cháhuā, literally: "tea flower") of flowering plants in the family Theaceae. Common names include "tea plant", "tea shrub", and "tea tree" (not to be confused with Melaleuca alternifolia, the source of tea tree oil, or Leptospermum scoparium, the New Zealand tea tree) .

With the advent of the era of genomics, the genome sequencing work in the tea plant has been greatly promoted and produced a huge amount of data. So far, there are 6 species of genomes and seven sets of data, gene coding sequences, protein sequences, various annotation information, expression data and miRNA data in the Tea Plant Genome database and configured with BLAST, JBrowse analysis tool.

In the future, we hope that the database of tea plant wil become a website for the integration of tea plant genome data and annotation information, providing data support and related data analysis for the molecular research of tea plant.
