Shuchazao is a new clonal variety, bred by Shucheng Agricultural Technology Extension Center of Anhui Province from local population varieties by systematic selection method. In 1995, it was approved by Anhui Provincial crop variety examination and Approval Committee as a provincial improved variety.
The tree is semi open, with dense branches and slightly oblique leaves. The leaf shape is long elliptic, dark green, glossy, thick and soft, the leaf surface is raised, the leaf edge is wavy, and the leaf body is curly. The buds and leaves are light green with medium pubescence and strong tenderness. It has high yield, strong cold resistance and adaptability. It is suitable to be popularized in Northern Anhui green tea area.
The tea plant genome sequence and overall results obtained in this study will offer valuable resources for future genetic improvement of tea plants with high resistance and quality to meet the increasing diversified demands of global tea consumers.
